The first Slovak National Celebration was held on the august 28th in the year of 1919. After the canceling of Matica Slovenská v Juhoslávii (The Slovak Matica in Yugoslavia) the national celebration continued to be organized until the year of 1953. The National Celebration was resumed together with Matica in the year of 1990.
Every year in august, Slovaks from all Vojvodina come to Petrovec. But this is a manifestation which is being visited also by the Slovaks form Slovakia and other countries that they live in. The content of the cultural and art programmes, expositions in galleries, contains from many different meetings of associations and congregations, many companionships not only on a local but on a much more superior level.
Also there are many sport competitions and activities which are offering relaxing moments by watching the football match and tennis.
