Јán Sokol (Kovacica, 1909-1982). He completed five years of primary school in Kovacica, became a farmer and married Ana. They had two daughters, Katarina and Alzbeta, and he adopted his wife’s daughter from her first marriage, Ana. He gained interest in painting at the age of twelve. Initially, since 1937, he copied reproduction post cards using aquarelle and pastels. Since 1939 he painted in oil. Sokol participated in many collective exhibitions at home and abroad, having one independent exhibition in Kovacica. From 1952 to 1982 he regularly exhibited at the event “Kovacica October”.
